How blest are the poor in spirit;
the reign of God is theirs.

The "poor in spirit" in Biblical notion referred to the weak, oppressed and those without defense. In modern times, you can extend that even to those who are infirm and terminally ill. These will enter the Kingdom of God as they accept their cross in this world and turn toward God. "God protects the poor man. He is his refuge and support."

- Ferdinand Pratt, S.J.

- Mother Teresa
