Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

It is through sorrow and mourning that life is sanctified. In the Old Testament the value of sorrow was readily acknowledged. In the New Testament suffering is embraced in the union with the suffering of Christ (Ferdinand Prat). Consolation becomes the source of joy to man.
