Thought for the Season

Pierre Teilhard De Chardin (1881-1955)

Love is available to all.
That lets each speak love in his own way
and live it in the bounds
of his own practicality.
That permits each to demonstrate it,
and that is the prettiest poetry
and the grandest elocution.

Love is simple.
The centuries have passed.
The profoundest philosophers have walked on platform
and spoken.
The most accomplished poets have taken pen
and written.
But no human being
has ever put together
a stronger statement on love
than the simple expression,
"I love you."
This is heart language.

The most satisfying joy
in all the world
is in having a person dearer to you
than your own self,
a person with whom you feel free
to pour out and share your every thought,
your every grief and your every joy;
for it is with that person
you feel a deep unity of spirits.
This is love.
For:
Love alone is capable
of uniting living beings
in such a way
as to complete and fulfill them,
for it alone takes them
and joins them
by what is deepest
in themselves.
