Pope Sisinnius (708) – Born in Syria, this infirmed pope's reign lasted fewer than three weeks. The man was so aged and crippled that he needed assistance in performing the basic functions of life. He did manage to consecrate the bishop of Corsica and to set in motion the strengthening of the walls of Rome. It is a pity that he was not a younger and healthier man. He was a man of outstanding moral character and possessed a high degree of pastoral sensibility. One would wish such qualities to be in abundance within the character of any holder of the Church's highest office.

Pope Sisinnius was laid to rest in Saint Peter's Basilica.
